MELBOURNE Renegades have locked in their BBL06 playing roster after losing a host of big name stars including Windies showman Dwayne Bravo and tongue-waging veteran Brad Hogg.

MELBOURNE Renegades replaced departed superstar Dwayne Bravo with a pair of left-arm quicks to lock away the club’s playing roster for this summer.

Pakistan seamer Usman Khan Shinwari will bolster the Gades’ attack for the first seven matches before he is replaced by Englishman Harry Gurney.

“I have watched the Big Bash with interest in recent years and I’ve been impressed with the quality of the competition,” Shinwari, 24, said.

“I’m hoping I can bring something different to the team with my bowling and help the Renegades push for success.”

Shinwari has represented Pakistan at ODI and T20 level, dismissing D’Arcy Short on his way to taking 1-22 against Australia last month.

Gurney made his debut for England in 2014 and played alongside fellow Renegades recruit Dan Christian last winter.

“Dan spoke very positively about the competition,” Gurney said.

“I’ve had a fair bit of experience in T20 cricket in England so I’m really excited to test myself in Australian conditions.

“I have admired the BBL from afar for a few years and am thrilled to get an opportunity to play in the comp.”

Coach Andrew McDonald was targeting a left-arm seamer to provide some variation to his attack.

“They’ll complement our bowling unit really well and give us plenty of options throughout the innings,” McDonald said.

The Gades — the only BBL club still searching for a semi-final win — have made six roster changes since last season.

The Gades have also signed Cam Boyce, Christian and youngsters Mackenzie Harvey, Will Sutherland and Zak Evans.

They have farewelled Brad Hodge (retired), James Pattinson (Heat), Matt Short (Strikers), Brad Hogg, Guy Walker and Bravo.

Walker has signed a rookie contract at AFL club Melbourne.
