KFC SuperCoach BBL: The teams you can pick after missing Round 1 lockout

Missing the first rolling lockout shouldn’t mean you miss out on playing KFC SuperCoach BBL. We’ve come up with two teams you could still pick to be a contender for the $25k prize.

KFC SuperCoach BBL: December 3 Team Advice

So, you missed the first lockout of the KFC SuperCoach BBL season.

That’s a setback, but it’s not the end of your chances of pocketing $25,000 as the overall winner or enjoying the weekly prize booty from KFC.

KFC SuperCoach BBL’s rolling lockout means players who featured last night — from Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes — are locked out.

These players can’t be traded in or out of teams until the end of Round 1 on Saturday night.

Missing out on the likes of Josh Philippe, D’Arcy Short and Will Jacks shouldn’t discourage you from entering a KFC SuperCoach BBL team.

The Hurricanes have a double in Round 2 and if any of their big guns failed to fire against the Sixers, you might actually find yourself ahead of many of your rivals.

If you enter on Friday, you can still pick a KFC SuperCoach side comprising players from six clubs — Heat, Thunder, Renegades, Scorchers, Strikers and Stars.

The Stars are the most important team of Round 1 as they play twice — on Friday against Brisbane and Saturday against Sydney Thunder.

As long as your team is entered by 7.15pm on Friday, you can load up on Stars to capitalise on their Round 1 double.

If you miss the start of the Stars’ first game of BBL10, picking a team gets complicated.

You’ll then only have access to the Scorchers, Renegades, Thunder and Strikers.

As Adelaide doesn’t play in Round 1, that would mean choosing a team from only three BBL clubs.

That’s a tough ask, but not impossible, as you can see below.

We’ve done the hard work for you and showed how easy it could be to pick a team on Friday or Saturday if you’re late to the KFC SuperCoach BBL party.

Your hopes of enjoying the bounty of KFC SuperCoach prizes aren’t dashed if you miss Round 1 either.

Each round winner takes home $500 (doubled to $1000 if subscribed to KFC SuperCoach Plus), while there’s KFC prizes up for grabs for top-11 finishers.

We doubt there’s a better summer combination.

A TEAM YOU COULD PICK ON FRIDAY (prior to Stars v Heat at 7.15pm)

The Hurricanes and Sixers will be locked out — but does that really matter? OK, it would have been nice to have D’Arcy Short in your team ahead of his Round 2 double. But if Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis or Adam Zampa go big, you can just trade them to Short anyway. The crucial thing for Round 1 is to have the best players from the Stars, who play Brisbane Heat on Friday night and Sydney Thunder on Saturday evening. Dilbar Hussain is a bargain at $62k, Billy Stanlake has plenty to prove and Andre Fletcher should open with Stoinis. Aaron Finch, Chris Lynn, Andrew Tye, Ben Cutting and Daniel Sams can score well without a double. This team also has a strong bench with Usman Khawaja, Max Bryant, Jack Wildermuth and Aaron Hardie.

A TEAM YOU COULD PICK ON SATURDAY (PRIOR TO STARS V Thunder at 4.05pm AEDT)

Plenty of big guns will still be available with star Scorchers trio Josh Inglis, Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye not featuring until Saturday night. Perth takes on Melbourne Renegades from 7.15pm in Hobart, when Aaron Finch, Josh Lalor and Kane Richardson also feature. You’d need to enter this team by 4.05pm to ensure the Thunder players — Daniel Sams, Ben Cutting, Usman Khawaja and Adam Milne — aren’t locked out. Having Matt Renshaw on the bench would give you an edge for Adelaide’s doubles in Round 2 and 3.
