Is Tom Curran worthy of a BBL ban, and a BBL SuperCoach must-have

Tom Curran shocked the cricketing world last night with some bizarre antics and who is a must-have BBL SuperCoach pick?

Tom Curran BANNED & the Heat are 3-0!? + a BBL Christmas Preview!

Tom Curran has been banned in the BBL and a Stars leader is a must-have for SuperCoach teams leading up to Christmas. Read on and listen to the Cricket Today Podcast, breaking down what happened with Tom Curran and the best picks for BBL SuperCoach.

CURRAN CHAOS

What was going on in the brain department, Tom Curran!?

The Sixers English all-rounder has been banned four games for intimidating an umpire, after being told multiple times to stop ‘practice bowling’ on the pitch before a BBL game earlier in the week.

Liam ‘Stats Guy’ McAllion, Marcus Bazzano and Leo Mullaly breakdown exactly what happened on the Cricket Today Podcast and think Curran has been incredibly dumb in this situation.

“Everyone in local cricket,” explains McAllion, “even juniors know you stay off the pitch before the game, especially with spikes on... why on Earth did he also try to run through the umpire!?”

SIXERS ROAD AHEAD

Sydney have some extremely tough fixtures over the next few weeks against the in-form Strikers and Heat, so this ban for Curran couldn’t have come at a worse time.

The magenta squad is also full of spinners and batters, so there’s no like-for-like replacement for Curran, they may struggle in the death overs to get the job done without him, unless the experience of Sean Abbott can takeover like last season.

The Sixers have challenged the ban, especially as it means he will miss 40% of the regular season, but as the Cricket Today panel suggests, it doesn’t look likely that he will get off and they will miss his elite all-round abilities.

BBL SUPERCOACH MUST HAVE

Glenn Maxwell - $130,000

If you want an early Christmas present or something to cheer about over the weekend, then Leo Mullaly of the Cricket Today Podcast suggest to pick Glen Maxwell for your SuperCoach side, especially with the Stars having the Round 3 double and Maci being at such a cheap price.

Although he is coming back from injury, the Aussie all-rounder showed in the World Cup that he can play through all types of pain and is the most in-form white ball player in the world.

In his last full BBL season, the Stars skipper was the fourth highest SuperCoach scorer in the league, averaging 64 points and after really improving his bowling in recent years, he can build up points in so many ways, especially across two games.
