Look out, Warnie.
Australian cricket legend Shane Warne is the face of SuperCoach BBL this season, but Herald Sun expert Sam Landsberger has his sights set on the spin king.

Both have spent big on big-hitting batsmen D’Arcy Short, Marcus Stoinis and Chris Lynn, but the big point of difference is Melbourne Stars’ gun Glenn Maxwell.

Warnie has overlooked the Victorian superstar, but Sam isn’t making the same mistake.
Maxwell scored 299 runs in nine games last season, including 26 fours and 12 sixes, to average more than 50 SuperCoach points a game from batting alone. He can add to that with his handy off-spinners — Sam will be banking on him bowling more than the six overs he send down last summer.

Sam is also taking a punt on injury-cursed paceman James Pattinson, who comes at the bargain price tag of $62,500.
LANDSBERGER’S STARTING SQUAD
BATSMEN
D’Arcy Short ($258,900, Hurricanes)
Makes a mess of the white ball. Slashed a BBL-record 572 runs last summer and warmed up with a largely airborne knock of 257 (148) in the domestic one-day cup.
Marcus Stoinis ($227,900, Stars)
Future Test all-rounder is a powerful batsmen and handy middle-innings wicket-taker.
Chris Lynn ($202,000, Heat)
Australia’s six machine with raw power matched by nobody. Added an edge of sensibility – and the sweep shot – in a maturing IPL campaign this year.
Glenn Maxwell ($175,000, Stars)
With Pete Handscomb back in the baggy green, would the Stars consider making Maxi captain? Strike-rate nudging 160 makes him an automatic pick.
Moises Henriques ($88,000, Sixers)
Another price that belies ability. The heart of the Sixers, Moises can literally do it all.
BENCH
Mackenzie Harvey ($42,000, Renegades)
Max Bryant ($42,000, Heat)
WICKET-KEEPER
Ben McDermott ($115,300, Hurricanes)
Renegade Tim Ludeman is cheaper but McDermott’s firepower wins out. Remember when he cracked 114 (52) in Hobart’s record chase at Marvel Stadium?
BENCH
Josh Phillippe ($42,000, Sixers)
BOWLERS
Dwayne Bravo ($204,300, Stars)
World cricket’s No.1 T20 wicket-taker is a class bowler. Will have the MCG singing and dancing wearing green this summer.
Rashid Khan ($198,800, Strikers)
Precocious Afghan legspinner combines a stingy economy rate with regular wickets. Quite simply, a T20 freak bowler.
Nathan Coulter-Nile ($125,000, Scorchers)
Effectively a new recruit after summers ruined by back problems. Bargain price for a strike bowler who also swings the bat harder than most.
Jason Behrendorff ($125,000, Scorchers)
Strike quick who has put his red-ball cricket on hold. Can Behrendorff crack next year’s World Cup squad?
James Pattinson ($62,5000, Heat)
Sizzling pace at a silly price. Patto’s lightning bolts should suit his new Gabba deck as he joins Brisbane’s Bash Brothers.
B ENCH
Jonathan Merlo ($42,000, Stars)
Jack Edwards ($42,00 Sixers)
