An angry Chris Lynn is poised to take out his frustrations on the Adelaide Strikers after a fortnight to forget for the big-hitting Brisbane Heat captain.

Successive losses to open their BBL campaign has the Heat desperate for a breakthrough win against the Strikers at the Gabba on Wednesday night.

Adding to the Heat’s woes was the failure of Lynn and his Brisbane teammate Dan Lawrence to adhere to the BBL’s COVID-19 protocols while in Canberra for the team’s first two games of the season.

Lynn had a photo taken with a member of the public and caught a taxi.

He and Lawrence were fined $10,000, with $4000 suspended for the rest of the season.

The Heat were also punished in the form of a $50,000 fine, $20,000 of which suspended for the rest of the season.

Lynn and the Heat were also stung by their death bowling display and planning in their loss to the Sydney Thunder being slammed as “pathetic” by cricketing great Ricky Ponting.

Lynn’s hopes of playing in Sunday’s Queensland Premier Cricket T20 final for Toombul also were dashed when Heat players had to withdraw from the decider because of increased biosecurity measures following the COVID-19 outbreak in NSW.

The setbacks have left Lynn in a fiery mood ahead of the Heat’s date with the Strikers.

“Lynny’s a very experienced player now – he knows that he’s done the wrong thing,” Heat paceman Mark Steketee said.

“I think he just wants his performances to speak for themselves now.

“He’ll be pretty motivated to come out here, first game in front of the Gabba crowd to prove a point to everyone, and he’ll be raring go (on Wednesday night).”

As will be the rest of the Heat squad.

“It’s just important to get some confidence back in the side. I feel like we probably let one slip down in Canberra,” Steketee said.

“We’re playing good cricket. It’s just a matter of turning the tide now and holding on to momentum when we get it.

“We just have to plan really diligently for the next game and hopefully we execute really well.”

Steketee said the Heat players had accepted they would not see their families on Christmas Day due to the BBL bubble.

Instead they will be in a Brisbane hotel, hoping to be celebrating what would be their first win of the season.

“We’re pretty privileged to still be playing cricket at this time. A lot of other people are doing it worse off than what we were,” Steketee said.

“I still reckon we’re pretty lucky just to have to go in a hotel.

“As long as we’re doing everything we can to keep the competition going, we’re happy to do it.

“It’s hard when you have families involved and you don’t get to see them, but I’m sure there’ll be a time when we can all celebrate and have Christmas at a later date.”
