Brisbane Heat skipper Chris Lynn is craving for a match-winning innings after an “OK” BBL stint with the bat.

Lynn’s fast starts at the top of the order have been a feature of the Heat\s 2020-21 campaign, which has them one win away from a spot in Saturday night’s final against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG.

But 436 runs at an average of 36.33 with a top score of 69 from 12 innings has left the big-hitting Lynn feeling a little unsatisfied.

“I’ve been OK without being great,” Lynn said ahead of the Heat’s do-or-die battle against the Perth Scorchers at Manuka Oval on Thursday night.

“I haven’t really got a big score yet and I haven’t really won a match with my own bat which is something that I pride myself on.

“I’ve left a lot of runs out there I believe. I’ve sold myself a little bit short having got to the 10-over mark and not being to utilise the (two-over) ‘power surge’. That’s when I think I can do the most damage if I’m still at the crease.”

Lynn’s frustration with his own performances are in contrast to the pride he has in the Heat’s form.

After a poor start to the season, the Heat have come good at the right time and are on a four-match winning run.

“I’m so proud of the way the boys have bounced back and the resilience they’ve shown,” Lynn said.

“They’re not polished wins but they’re grinding and character building wins.

“The only reward you get from a loss is experience ... and I’d like to think we’ve got plenty of experience in our line-up now.

“We’ve got the cattle and the coaching staff in our group and set-up to go all the way. In saying that we’re always going to keep two feet on the ground.”

Lynn said the Heat’s “team-first” attitude had been perfectly displayed by emerging paceman Xavier Bartlett, who has accepted his recent role of bowling just one over before being replaced by “X-Factor”, South African speedster Morne Morkel.

“I do feel for the guy when you’re injected into the game for only one over and then subbed out for someone like Morne Morkel like the last couple of games,” he said.

“It’s not easy but they’re good problems to have. The thing we talk about at Brisbane Heat is ... what does the team need from me right now.

“For (Bartlett) at the moment it’s one over. If every individual asks what does the team need from me right now, you’re playing a team game and you\re doing what\s best for the team.”
