Australian superstar Annabel Sutherland shatters cricket record books

Australian Annabel Sutherland has etched her name into the record books, doing something no other Aussie female has achieved.

Hometown hero smashes MCG record!

Annabel Sutherland has rewritten the Australian cricket record books.

The 23-year-old became the first woman to score a Test century at the iconic MCG, reaching the milestone in 193 balls to put Australia in a commanding position in the pink-ball Ashes contest against England.

Sutherland becomes just the third Australian woman to score three Test hundreds, joining Betty Wilson and Jill Kennare on the illustrious list.

Her feat however put her above any other Australian female cricketer as she became only the second player in women’s Tests to have three centuries in their first six matches.

“She’s been in total control since she came in late last night,” Mike Hussey says on Fox Cricket.

“Just had the one chance on 29 and she has made England pay for that error in the field.”

Former Cricket Australia boss James and his wife Heidi were in the stands as Annabel reached three figures.

“It’s a pleasure to be out here watching a women’s Test match. Even better still watching Annabel doing what she loves doing, batting, and just keeping on batting,” James said on Fox Cricket.

“I don’t like to get too far ahead, but all I would say is she loves batting and she’s got a steely determination as we’ve seen today and other times.”

The superstar made her international debut in 2020 but burst onto the main stage during the 2023 Ashes tour of England.

Sutherland scored a scintillating 137 at Trent Bridge to dig the Aussies out of a hole and secure a win over the Poms.

Less than a year later she registered her first double-century when she plundered 210 against South Africa in Perth.

Sutherland’s historic MCG knock finally came to an end when she was dismissed for 163 with the Aussies holding a commanding lead over their long-time rivals.
