Australian cricketer Aaron Finch says he copped a sledge by Prince Harry last year

Prince Harry could not resist stoking the rivalry between England and Australia, with the cheeky brit delivering Aaron Finch a spectacular sledge at Buckingham Palace before the Cricket World Cup last year.

Aaron Finch has shared the sledge he recieved from Prince Harry before last year’s Cricket World Cup.

Aaron Finch has opened up about the sledge he copped from Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace.

The Australian cricketer met the Queen and Prince Harry at the start of the World Cup last year when all captains were invited.

“He had a bit of a dig at my age. He said, ‘you’re getting a bit old for this thing aren’t you’,’’ Finch, 33, said.

“Not much you can come back at him with, it’s Prince Harry.

“I wasn’t expecting any banter coming my way, I thought it would be very official.

“But it was lots of fun.”

Melbourne based Finch said he had met the Queen in 2002 and on their second meeting she asked the same question.

“The first time she asked if it was my first time to the UK and if I was enjoying it, and the second time she asked if it was my first time playing in the UK, so she’s obviously not a cricket fan,’’ he said.

“For a boy from Colac it was pretty regal. The grandness of it was extraordinary.”

Finch also recounted the tale for Thirsty Camel and their content series called Thirsty for a Good Story.
