THEY are the hottest pairing in world volleyball but this weekend Taliqua Clancy will be a bystander as Mariafe Artacho Del Solar plays at the NSW Open and Commonwealth Games selection event at Manly.
Clancy has been ruled out of the event as she works to rehabilitate a foot injury sustained in training in time for next week’s World Tour tournament at the same Northern Beaches venue.

The NSW Open was to have been the first event the pair have done since a recent purple patch saw them win five major events, including a World Tour titles.
Del Solar will now be partnered with Phoebe Bell for the Commonwealth Games selection event Bell was to have played with Clancy’s Rio Olympic partner Louise Bawden, who will also miss the event at Manly through injury.

Clancy said she is frustrated at missing the NSW Open event but not overly concerned her absence will affect her chances of Commonwealth Games selection.
“No not really, hopefully my results across the year will count for something and I will be definitely right to play in the World Tour next week,’’ she said.
“This is just a small hiccup and Mariafe and I will be able to pick up where we left off and continue the trust we have in each other and keep on winning.”
The FIVB World Tour event starts next Wednesday at Manly Beach with the trial partnership of Clancy and del Solar to be reunited in the event which has attracted players from 32 nations.
