IT IS the place to be seen on the Gold Coast.
New bar, restaurant, and pool Nineteen has already attracted the top end of celebrities, business, politics and we are only two days in to the Commonwealth Games.
A joint project from Aussie entertainment couple, Billy and Jackie Cross, and local king of food, Simon Gloftis, the ambitious luxury space opened just a week before the Games.
On the first day of competition alone, Games Confidential spotted Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, Gerry Harvey and Katie Page, and Dami Im at Nineteen.
“It is really what the Gold Coast has been waiting for a long time,” Mr Cross told Games Confidential.
“We are expecting a high caliber of celebrities here because it is a place where they feel comfortable and they don’t get hassled.”
Billy Cross founded Manpower, which he and his wife grew into a global empire as the Thunder from Down Under men’s dance troupe. He and his wife run events and festivals across the country.
Gloftis previously owned iconic Gold Coast eatery Fish House restaurant and still runs Hellenika.
“The Gold Coast is often picked on but we are a progressive city and there is a lot of investment here,” Mr Cross said.
“Looking at what The Star have invested in The Darling and everything else they are doing, we are moving in the right direction and having a venue like this really puts us on the map. People are coming up from Sydney and down from Brisbane. It is a destination.”
