Will Smith, Chris Rock offered $40 million to fight for real

YouTube phenom Jake Paul has made an offer to Chris Rock and Will Smith to settle their feud in a way the world wants to see.

Jake Paul has made a $40 million offer to stage a boxing match between Chris Rock and Will Smith following the clash at The Oscars between the Hollywood stars.

The world watched in shock on Monday after comedian Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, shaving her head due to her struggles with alopecia, The Sun reports.

That sparked Smith, 53, to take the stage and strike Rock, 57, before telling him: “Keep my wife’s name out your mouth.”

The wild moment occurred near the end of the show as Rock was preparing to present the nominees for the Academy Award for Best Documentary. The camera flashed to Pinkett Smith, and Rock said: “Jada, love you. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it.”

The reference was to the 1997 film with Demi Moore, where her character shaves her head and joins a special forces group in the military. Jada appeared to take exception to the joke.

It comes as the fight world reacted with a series of jokes surrounding the moment Smith attacked the comedy icon.

Paul responded after Impractical Jokers star Sal Vulcano tweeted to ask what the likelihood was that he would make a fight offer.

Now the 5-0 YouTuber-turned-boxer has offered them both $20m each, albeit tongue-in-cheek, to sort out their issues inside the boxing ring this year with a reply to Vulcano.

He wrote: “Over/under on how much Jake Paul is gonna offer Chris Rock and Will Smith for a boxing PPV?”

Paul responded: “I got $15m ($AUD20m) for Will Smith and $15m for Chris Rock ready to go. Let’s do it in August on my undercard.”

He would later add: “Someone get me on the phone with Will Smith’s boxing representative asap.”

UFC president Dana White also took to social media, tweeting: “FINALLY! There’s an #Oscars show worth watching. AND Chris Rock has a chin.”

Popular UFC commentator Ariel Helwani scored the incident in Rock’s favour: “Took it like a pro and moved on. Hardly budged. Respect”.

Boxing Guru Dan Rafael, however, gave the round to Smith: “No way. Smith still gets the credit for landing the clean shot. Just because you can take a shot doesn’t mean you win the round!! 10-9 Smith”.

Smith does have some previous experience of boxing training after playing Muhammad Ali in the 2001 biopic about his life.

He was trained for the movie by former Sugar Ray Leonard coach Darrell Foster in a professional boxing-style training camp.

This is not the first time that Paul has offered to put up the money for a celebrity showdown.

He previously claimed that he wants Kanye West and Pete Davidson to settle their bitter feud in the ring and offered to guarantee the two men $40m each through his promotional company Most Valuable Promotions.
