Adelaide 36ers have pulled off yet another golden signing coup, landing former NBA wing Troy Brown Jr.

Superstar Bryce Cotton’s citizenship opened the door for the second-placed Sixers to secure what is now essentially a fourth import, given Zylan Cheatham and Nick Rakocevic are already on the roster.

A 2018 first round draft pick, Brown Jr played 371 NBA games across stints with Washington - who took him at No.15 - Chicago, LA Lakers, Minnesota and Detroit.

The club is in the process of gaining FIBA clearance from Puerto Rico, where the 26-year-old last played, but it is expected he will be in a 36ers’ uniform for Sunday’s tilt with Cairns.

The 201cm Las Vegas native brings athleticism, shooting and a defensive edge to what is already a stacked Sixers outfit.

“Troy has great size and length,” Adelaide basketball boss Matt Weston said.

“He’s a legitimate shooter who is very good on the defensive side of the ball with great hands.

“He’s had six seasons in the NBA where he shot nearly 40 per-cent from the three-point line, plus he’s great on the boards and will give us another rebounding option.”

Weston said Brown Jr’s arrival was the culmination of a long, patient search for the right player.

“We wanted to assess our group and other teams in the league to determine what type of player could make us better,” he said.

“We had to consider what we need to make sure we can beat the best teams not just now but twice in a week come March.

“We’re confident it won’t take long for Troy to adjust to our game style and make a positive impact for our group.”

His signing means Blake Jones will come off the club’s main roster but remain a Nominated Replacement Player.
