Players can win crazy NFL combine jackpot

ADIDAS are offering prospects at the NFL combine perhaps the most ridiculous prize ever — if they can break a sprinting record.

It could be home.

GENERALLY your prize for winning the 40-yard-dash (36m) is a medal of some kind.

But that’s not the case if you take out the event at the NFL combine.

There you can win something much grander — an entire island.

That’s right, Adidas are offering up the amazing prize for anyone who breaks the record for the 36m sprint at the combine reports ESPN.

The best-ever time recorded in the test is 4.24 seconds by Chris Johnson in 2008.

There is a slight catch however, the player must be wearing the 2017 Adizero 5-star 40 cleat while doing it and also agree to endorse the shoes for the next NFL season.

Adidas haven’t yet decided on what island they will put up for grabs, but the terms and conditions say the company will provide the prize “as soon as reasonably possible”.

If obtaining an island becomes too difficult, Adidas can also pay the winning player a sum of $1.3 million AUD.

The footwear brand has given incentives to break the mark at the combine previously also. Cash sums from $100,000 to $1 million have been up for grabs, but an island raises the stakes considerably.

Adidas will not assist with any taxes associated with the prize nor the ongoing upkeep costs of owning an entire island.

Several islands throughout Central America and Canada are available for under $1 million and the lucky player could even net himself a slice of Australia.

Kangaroo Island, an hour from the Great Barrier Reef has an asking price of $1.2 million. Temple Island, off Central Queensland will set you back just $850,000, leaving a little change for an island crib.

Keith Marshall was the quickest player in the 2016 combine, running the dash in 4.31 seconds.

Players expected to go closest to the times are the running backs and wide receivers, who will complete the running examination on Friday (AEDT).
