America stunned by Australian punter’s freak play in NFL clash

The Eagles were leading by 17 points in the third quarter of their second-round clash when Philadelphia kicker Jake Elliot attempted a 41-yard field goal.

The effort was charged down before Vikings cornerback Kris Boyd scooped up the pigskin and sprinted towards the end zone for what would have been a touchdown if not for Siposs’ heroics.

The 29-year-old, who had been holding the ball for Elliot, chased after Boyd and managed to wrap his arms around the American’s legs, bringing him down to the ground.

Siposs’ freak play didn’t go unnoticed, with NFL pundits singing the Australian’s praises on social media.

Siposs played 28 games for St Kilda after making his AFL debut in 2011, kicking 22 goals for the club.

He was delisted by the Saints at the end of the 2015 season.

Siposs made his NFL debut against the Atlanta Falcons in September last season after joining the Eagles as a back-up punter.

Jalen Hurts rushed for two touchdowns and passed for 333 yards as Philadelphia maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign with a 17-point victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins was intercepted three times and was sacked twice as Minnesota fell to 1-1.
