ALEX Smith led the Kansas City Chiefs into the NFL postseason and did so after having a career year, it wasn’t enough to retain his spot in the side.
Today Smith was traded to the Washington Redskins in a huge trade that netted the Chiefs a third-round draft pick along with young star cornerback Kendall Fuller.
The deal for Smith is a monster four-year contract extension worth $116 million that includes a guaranteed $87 million.
As the news began to filter out on social media of the trade, the name of the player being traded by the Redskins was unknown.
Rumours flooded timelines as player names were thrown around, Fuller took to his personal Twitter account stating he thought he was safe.
Mannnnn im safe! I ainât get traded

An hour later however, after it had been announced he was being included in the mega-trade he sent out a hilarious response.

The move will likely set in motion a domino effect as Kirk Cousins, the Redskins starting quarterback for the last three seasons, will enter the free-agent market in March.
An early frontrunner for the services of Cousins is expected to be the New York Jets.
If the Jets don’t go after Cousins, his destination could still affect them. The Browns (picks 1 and 4) and the Broncos (pick 5) are both ahead of the Jets (pick 6) in the draft and are expected to be looking for a quarterback.
If one of them signs Cousins, the Jets have less competition for the college quarterbacks.
The Jets are expected to have about $123 million in salary-cap space and are in desperate need for a franchise quarterback.
The #Redskins gave QB Alex Smith a 4-year extension worth $94M, source said. He gets a whopping $71M in guarantees.

Alex Smith is getting more guaranteed money at signing in this deal ($70M) than Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan and Ben Roethlisberger had on their most recent deals. Sure, lengths vary but wow.

The Chiefs get all kinds of credit for trading Alex Smith, a guy they wanted to get rid of, and getting back a 3rd round pick and a terrific young corner in Kendall Fuller. That's freaking masterful.

Kendall Fuller is now telling his teammates that he is headed to the Chiefs in the Alex Smith deal. He was one of the last people to find out. #Redskins
