Footy journalist Caroline Wilson has given Kane Cornes a bake after the footy pundit’s swipe at North Melbourne.
Cornes this weekend moved to pour cold water on the Kangaroos’ announcement the club has signed Alastair Clarkson on a rich five-year deal.
The Roos have reached a new low in 2022 with just two wins for the entire season.
However, recruiting Clarkson ahead of wealthier, bigger clubs, including Essendon, has been received as a turning point for the embattled club.

The club has proudly shown off Clarkson since last week’s announcement, but Cornes publicly slammed the club for doing a “victory lap”.
Wilson on Monday night told Corned he is a “curmudgeon” for raining on the Roos’ parade.
“Oh, what rot!,” she said on Channel 9’s Footy Classified.
“You’re a curmudgeon Kane. That is a curmudgeon comment. I’ve been hard on them too. They’ve lost so much money. They’re on the bottom of the ladder. They’ve had an absolutely shizen housen few years. Finally they get a win and they get one day to celebrate and you’re calling it a victory lap.”
North Melbourne president Sonja Hood had earlier light-heartedly suggested she did not appear on SEN radio because of Cornes presence on the station. The former Port Adelaide star’s had earlier labelled her Clarkson public relations campaign “uninspiring”.
Cornes refused to back down from his comment saying Clarkson won’t be the club’s “messiah” while the football department remains in disarray.
“It was a massive get for them, congratulations to them,” Cornes told AFL Media.
“It was methodical planning, they went about it with an actual plan as opposed to what Essendon have done.
“Well done, but what I will say is that the victory lap can stop now.
“It feels like Sonja Hood and her team are fully on a victory lap, and you could be forgiven for thinking they’ve won the premiership, really.
“Let’s get back to reality, they’ve won two games for the season, they got smashed and embarrassed by a team that was 12th on the ladder coming into the game.
“There are holes everywhere on their list.
“Whilst Alastair Clarkson solves a big problem, their list is a mess and it’s going to take a long time to fix that.
“He won’t be the messiah for them, albeit he will help a little bit.”
