Verdict on every Port Adelaide player coming out of contract in 2025

Will Travis Boak go on? Where does the future lie for Ryan Burton and Jeremy Finlayson? Matt Turner makes the call on every Power player coming out of contract. HAVE YOUR SAY.

The futures of a host of Port Adelaide footballers are in limbo with six rounds remaining in the season.

Veteran Travis Boak, former GWS forward Jeremy Finlayson, ex-Crow Rory Atkins and defender Ryan Burton headline the Power players without contracts for 2026.

Boak told the Advertiser on Sunday that he was unsure if he wanted to extend his career for a 20th season.

The midfielder, who turns 37 in a fortnight, has missed seven matches this year amid battles with form and injury.

He will play four in a row for the first time in 2025 against Hawthorn on Saturday.

Port Adelaide football boss Chris Davies said the club would have a fair say in its games record holder’s decision.

“I haven’t had that conversation with Travis yet,” Davies said.

“I think Travis has had more battles with injury and fatigue this year.

“It’ll be an interesting conversation to have.

“Clearly he’s playing good enough footy at the moment to continue on until the rest of this year at the very least.”

Injured rookie Tom Cochrane, sixth-year swingman Dylan Williams, hardworking forward Jed McEntee, mid-year recruit Mani Liddy and youngsters Hugh Jackson, Will Lorenz, Tom Anastasopoulos, Lachie Charleson, Benny Barrett and Jacob Moss are the others unsigned.

Cochrane played three matches before a season-ending foot injury.

Williams was promoted for his first AFL game of the year on Saturday after kicking seven goals last week in the SANFL.

Fourth-year midfielder Jackson has played six matches since debuting in round 11, Liddy has featured four times, while half-back/wingman Lorenz has got two opportunities this season, including as a substitute last week.

Goalsneaks Anastasopoulos and Charleson, and category B rookies Barrett and Moss are untried at the elite level.

Davies said players did not need to be selected over the remaining matches to have a future at the club.

“We’ve got some plans as to where we see players at,” he said.

“I don’t think we’re going to be announcing any more contracts right now until the end of the year.

“We’ll wait for a period of time now before we commit to the players who are out of contract for next year.”

Port plans to retain the bulk of its out-of-contract group in a year where clubs are lower on the quality of the draft pool.

List spots and who the Power recruits could change the fate of some of the contingent.

It is understood Port has inked supplemental selection period bolter Josh Lai to a one-year extension.
