ROUND 3 UNIQUES OF THE WEEK
DEF: LUKE RYAN | $506,500 | 156 points | 2.2% ownership
Having won the Fothergill-Round Medal as the most promising young player in the VFL while playing with Coburg, Ryan joined Freo with the 66th pick in the 2016 draft and has looked like a key member of their defence since debuting in mid-2017. Last year he averaged just on 90 SuperCoach points across 20 games, but in three games in this nascent season he’s scored 91, 78, and then a massive 156 points against the Saints in Round 3. Anyone questioning his ability to hit those sorts of heights might want to check the tape — he’s quickly becoming one of the game’s leading intercept defenders, with an excellent kick: handball ratio, with 25 of his 32 disposals against St. Kilda coming off his reliable boot.
MID: DAVID ZAHARAKIS | $502,500 | 135 points | 0.4% ownership
Zaharakis has had higher SuperCoach scores against the Dees — a whopping 154 point game back in 2014 is his high water mark across the course of his career — but his contribution against a winless Melbourne Football Club as he accumulated 135 SuperCoach points was a vital part of assisting his side break their 2019 duck and keep the Demons winless after three games. He’s an awkward price at just over $500,000, but in terms of adding a unique flavour to a SuperCoach midfield, he might be a perfectly feasible downgrade option for those looking to cash in on underperforming premiums before their prices start to go into serious freefall as the season progresses.

RUC: BEN McEVOY | $554,300 | 122 points | 2.1% ownership
Outscoring fellow veteran Todd Goldstein — who himself managed a very commendable 116 — it looks like McEvoy is a perfect buy. He’s now the third best-performing ruckman in 2019, and across the first three rounds of the season has scored one less point than Max Gawn, and 22 less than Brodie Grundy, and is over $100,000 cheaper than either of the plummeting high-priced premiums. With a break-even of exactly 100 ahead of the Hawks’ Round 4 clash with St. Kilda, he’s looking good to increase his value, averaging 104 against his former team from five clashes.
FWD: JEREMY CAMERON | $473,300 | 177 points | 2.4% ownership
In two of his first four years, Jeremy Cameron was a 60-plus goal a year forward, and the footy world seemed to be at his feet — Cameron seemed poised to become a star of the game. Due to a variety of factors, be it injury or suspension, he's never managed to put everything together for a full season. If he can match the sort of output he’s had in two home games at all venues, 2019 could be the year he really does become a superstar — he's scored 100 points in both games at home, and even in an outfit smashed by the reigning premiers on their home deck, he managed a score of just on 70 points. His next three games — away to Geelong, home against Freo, and then across the bridge at the SCG versus the Swans — see him face three sides that he averages sub-70 SuperCoach points per game against. If he performs to fuller expectation against his bogey sides, watch for him as a perfect unique option.
