Christian Salem could be the secret to SuperCoach success this year, according to teammate Max Gawn.
The pinpoint left-footer is Melbourne’s money man with coach Simon Goodwin urging players to put the ball in Salem’s hands.

“I’m well across SuperCoach, having been a top-three scorer for the last three years,” Gawn said.
“And I am really keen on Christian Salem.
“It was sort of a breakout year last year, but it’ll definitely be a breakout year this year for him.
“He’s coming up that 100-game mark as well and getting the ball in his hands is something we want.
“Ideally, we’re trying to get him the ball a lot more because he makes really good decisions.”
Salem, 23, costs $445,000 after averaging 82 points and 18.3 disposals last season.
Gawn said utility Bailey Fritsch, who was heartbreakingly dropped for last year’s preliminary final, was another summer standout who is set for more midfield minutes.
Rival track watchers have also been impressed with the 22-year-old’s ($408,400) form and he was rushed into Jack Riewoldt’s winning AFLX squad last week.
And Gawn said you can’t go wrong with Melbourne’s bunch of midfield “bulls” — Clayton Oliver, Angus Brayshaw, Jack Viney and James Harmes — which are set to push Nathan Jones to a wing.
But there could be a teenage smoky set to join them in the middle.
“Those four go at the ball incredibly hard while Tom Sparrow looks like he could be another one of them, so we might have five potentially to go through there,” Gawn said.
Sparrow, 18, ($117,300) was Melbourne’s first pick in last year’s draft.
Aggressive recruit Steven May’s sharp left foot has impressed at training with Gawn noting the full-back had rarely missed a target at training.
As for Gawn himself?
“I don’t think I’m going to be the smartest option with the expensive money you’ve got to pay,” the dual All-Australian said.
“You’ve got to be a pretty keen person to go for either me or Brodie (Grundy).
“Maybe there might be some other ruckmen around, I know Goldy’s (Todd Goldstein) back in form.”
Goodwin is also considering pairing Gawn with recruit Brayden Preuss, although the former Kangaroo would likely play forward under that scenario.
Gawn costs $692,200 while Grundy is priced at $708,200. Goldstein is just $548,000 after a quieter 2017.
