SuperCoach AFL 2025: Experts reveal their trades for round 9

There is one name up in lights when it comes to round 9 trades, but finding cheapies to move in and out isn’t so straightforward. See who our experts are punting on.

The HBF Injury Report for SuperCoach AFL Round 9!

Don’t look a gift Swan in the mouth.

That’s the overwhelming sentiment from our experts this week when presented with gun Sydney midfielder Chad Warner for $488k.

Finding rookies and deciding who to trade out are a lot trickier.

Here are their move for round 9.

AL PATON

OUT: Xavier Lindsay, Isaac Kako

IN: Chad Warner, Hugh Boxshall/Neil Erasmus

I have toyed around with some more creative trades – Finn Callaghan instead of Warner, using a boost to get Izak Rankine – but after a few flops this year, maybe it’s time to be boring.

Warner has teased SuperCoaches in the past but his great recent scores coincide with a big spike in centre bounce numbers, something Dean Cox isn’t likely to change any time soon. And the Swans have a good run coming up including Essendon, Melbourne and Richmond.

I need to get a rookie as well and that will come down to teams on Thursday night – if Neil Erasmus isn’t the sub, he’s in. If he is, I’ll cross everything Boxshall isn’t the sub on Friday night.

PATCH

IN: Riley Hardeman, Chad Warner

OUT: Sam Davidson, Matt Flynn?

Teams pending on this one, I really don’t want to trade in another dud rookie and at this stage I’d rather lose Flynn and gain Hardeman than trade out Prior and go early on Boxshall, only to find him dropped/the sub in two weeks. If teams give me confidence on Neil Erasmus then he’s my guy, but at this stage I’m not confident.

TIM MICHELL

OUT: Isaac Kako and Sam Davidson

IN: Chad Warner and Hugh Boxshall

Still absolutely filthy with myself for going Jordan Clark over Chad Warner last week. Everything that could possibly have gone Warner’s way in the derby did and it was a very hard watch, especially after Toby Bedford went off. I’ll right that wrong this round before he’s back above $500k. Isaac Kako could hang around a bit longer and I still might trade Matt Flynn or Jayden Short instead. I’m trying to avoid using my last boost until the byes, but the temptation to launch that rocket this week is growing.

TARQUIN OAKLEY

IN: Chad Warner, Riley Hardeman

OUT: Sam Davidson, Jayden Short

Pivoted last week to trade Oliver and therefore held Davidson for an extra game, but the Bulldog is definitely gone this week. Chad Warner comes in, but the rest is up in the air and dependant on team selection.

CHLOE WILLIAMS

IN: Chad Warner, Rookie

OUT: Isaac Kako, Xavier Lindsay

I don’t really know if I want to do this ... with JHF, Rankine and Tracc, I was planning to fade Warner, but I’m nervous about others having him. It feels early to move Kako, who is a surety to play each week, but luckily for me I’ve already booted my Moraes/Short/SPP types. My other option involves moving Daniel or Flynn to Neale or Dunkley. I suppose teams will decide my fate.

MATT FOREST

OUT: Connor Stone and Sam Powell-Pepper

IN: Chad Warner and Henry Hustwaite

Next week looks to be a great double, or even triple downgrade, so I’ll bring in a premium this week and Warner at sub-$500k is probably the best option. He’s back playing midfield, showing his explosive clearance traits, and Sydney’s midfield is starting to play good football. Hustwaite could be a short-term money grab if Nash returns and forces him out, but he’s playing well enough to hopefully hold onto his position once the Irishman returns from his suspension.
