JORDAN LOCK

Club: Mudgeeraba Spartans

Age: 9

Team: Under-9s.

Comment: Every football team needs a robust player in the middle commanding the engine room. For the Spartans under-9 side, that player is Lock. The bullocking long-term Spartan, has a very healthy appetite for getting the hardball and sending the ball into the forward line with his booming right boot. Lock has repeatedly showed supporters his skill and endurance in not just his team’s two scheduled under-9.5 games but by backing up to play a further two for the under-10.5s.

TOBY ROBBIE

Club: Mudgeeraba Spartans.

Age: 9

Team: Under-9s.

Comment: You know when a ruckman is enjoying his footy when he brushes off defenders, bounces the ball and has a scamper down the wing. Robbie loves nothing more than being in a contest. Robbie made the most of contesting every football in his vicinity at a football

carnival at Coomera Magpies earlier this year in games for both the under-9.5s and under-10.5s.

Cutting his teeth in the AusKick program, Robbie was eager to continue his love for the game with his local team, the Mudgeeraba Spartans.

“I like getting to the ball first and tapping it down to my mates,” Robbie, a loyal Suns supporter, said.

“My favourite player is definitely Dustin Martin.”

JACOB WALTON

Club: Mudgeeraba Spartans.

Age: 9

Team: Under-9s.

Comment: Walton is a student of the game and uses his knowledge of Australian rules to good effect when he dons the Mudgeeraba Spartans jersey. Dangerous in any zone, Walton applies his deft kicking to promote the ball to under-9.5 teammates.

Always refining his skills, Walton is often the last Spartan to leave training. His parents are happy to see Walton dribbling a kick through goal in fading light knowing just how passionate he is about playing footy for his beloved club. When asked what his favourite part of playing football was, Walton kept it short and sweet, “I like getting the footy a lot and kicking it.”

NATE WHITE

Club: Mudgeeraba Spartans

Age: 8

Team: Under-8s.

Comment: He has played one game but this passionate Geelong Cats fan has got the footy bug. White played his first Australian rules game for the Spartans at Coomera on March 15 and absolutely loved it. In fact, he went on to play four games back-to-back. Lured to the Spartans by a good friend, White has already demonstrated he has a bright future ahead of him with the Sherrin in hand.

In his first game for under-8.5 Spartans Blue against

Coomera Magpies, White showed pace, skill, teamwork and awareness.

“The best thing about playing footy was playing with Jack and Cooper, kicking my first goal and playing for a real team,” White said.

MIA SALISBURY

Despite this, Corbett has always stood out as a sparkling, pacy on-baller with fast hands and a great kick on the run. Corbett was represented the region at under-14 level and acquitted himself well while he has gone on to play for NSW. Corbett joined the Suns academy at the age of 14 and is also part of Destination 22, AFL Queensland’s High Performance Program.
