Longest goal ever seen leaves footy world in sheer disbelief

The football community has been left with their jaws on the floor after a VFL player produced a moment of absurdity on Saturday.

VFL halfback lands monster goal

The longest goal you’re ever likely to see in a game of footy has been kicked.

In the opening quarter of the VFL clash between Coburg and Sydney, it was Swans player Jordan Endemann who delivered the absurd scenes.

Off the back of a turnover, Endemann received the ball on the back flank before launching a torpedo towards his own half.

The kick was unloaded from just inside the back end of the centre square and quickly sailed out of view of the camera as it soared through the air.

As the camera panned toward Sydney’s forward 50, Swans forward Jack Buller turned and began sprinting back towards goal.

The ball came back into view, landing around 25-30m from the goals. But the journey wasn’t over there as it rolled end on end, beating out Buller and Coburg defender Rhys Galvin as it bounced through for a goal.

The moment was quickly uploaded to all corners of the internet with footy fans losing their minds over what they’d just seen unfold.

Code Sports’ Lachlan McKirdy wrote on X: “Excuse me?? This feels illegal.”

The Age’s Peter Ryan wrote: “Had to have a ping from there! Ridiculous.”

Lenny Phillips wrote: “Gotta be f***ing kidding.”

The official AFL account added: “Our jaws are on the FLOOR.”

Another fan wrote: “That’s gone around 100 metres I reckon.”

One added: “Longest goal ever easily.”

One fan tried to figure out the actual distance of the goal by deploying Google Maps. His calculations, while stating he wasn’t claiming 100 per cent accuracy, had the goal measuring in at 109m.

While Endemann stole the limelight, it was the only bright spot on the day for the Swans.

After Sydney kicked the opening three goals of the contest, Coburg flipped the script by kicking 11 of the final 16 goals.

Coburg took the lead midway through the second quarter and never looked back as they secured the 11.23 (89) to 8.9 (57) victory.

The win is Coburg’s second straight and takes them to 4-4, while the loss sinks the Swans into even further turmoil with their record sitting at a paltry 1-7.

A few more 100m bombs from Endemann might be the only way to turn things around.
