GOLD Coast have moved into the top six of the NEAFL ladder after a third straight win but the hopes of an AFL return this season for one of their most experienced have been dashed after suffering a knee injury.
Aaron Young suffered what the club believes to be a recurrence MCL injury that kept him out for seven weeks earlier this season late in the 12.15 (87) to 6.10 (46) win over Redland at Metricon Stadium.
The 26-year-old, who played all 22 AFL games last season, was put on ice late in the game after booting three goals and collecting 25 disposals.

“He got a knock late. He will have to get scans before we know more,” Suns development coach Tim Clarke said.
“It could be a similar injury to what he had. He was terrific early. In the first two quarters when we got away a bit from Redland he was one of the better players.
“He was impacting around the footy. He was very good around goals.
“We were really pleased with that. He got a knock late in the game and we have to get that looked at this week.”
It was Young’s second game back after previously injuring his left knee against West Coast in Round 7 in what has been his only senior game this year.
A five goal opening term gave the Suns a 15-point lead by the first break and they never looked like getting caught.
HAVE THE SUNS FOUND ANOTHER COACH?
Lachlan McDonald and Tom Nicholls booted two goals each while Connor Nutting, Mitch Riordan, Michael Rischitelli, Chris Burgess and George Horlin-Smith kicked one each.
Rischitelli was among the best with 29 possessions while Jacob Dawson (27 disposals), Jordan Murdoch (26 disposals) and Riordan (26 disposals), were all solid contributors.
“The boys were terrific,” Clarke said.
“They won the contested footy which we knew we had to do against Redland.
“We got the ball forward and our forwards were able to kick a couple of goals and a lot of it was on the back of our defenders setting up well behind the footy.”
