GOLD Coast have traded out young top 10 draft pick Jack Scrimshaw and experienced midfielder Aaron Hall and brought in two mature-aged players.
Scrimshaw will join Hawthorn in a deal that will deliver the club’s future third round draft pick to the Gold Coast in exchange for the Suns’ future fourth round selection.
The Suns will receive pick 68 from North Melbourne for Hall while the Queensland club has used pick 59 to secure Geelong player George Horlin-Smith.
SUNS BRING IN MORE REINFORCEMENTS
The exits and acquisitions continue a busy trade period for Gold Coast who could also find a suitor for defender Kade Kolodjashnij.
Scrimshaw was drafted with pick 7 in the 2016 draft but played just four AFL games.
The 20-year-old, 193cm rebounding defender, couldn’t break into the team’s top 22 due to form and injuries. He suffered a concussion and fractured his cheekbone in April this year.
Hall played 103 games for Gold Coast over seven seasons but was dropped multiple times in his final two seasons due to inconsistent form and was sidelined for most of 2018 with a pectoral injury.
The 27-year-old Tasmanian was out-of-contract and said he was excited to be joining the Kangaroos.
“I have played 100 games and haven’t looked like playing finals and that has been a massive driver for me in this decision. Hopefully I can help make them a better team with my attributes,” Hall said.
Meanwhile, the Suns have traded pick 59 for Geelong’s George Horlin-Smith.

Horlin-Smith played 51 games for the Cats after being drafted with pick 37 in the 2010 draft.
Gold Coast have also signed former Fremantle player and Werribee defender Sam Collins as their third and final mature age state-league player as part of the special assistance provided by the AFL Commission.
The 194cm intercepting key defender was drafted with pick 55 in the 2015 draft and played 14 games for the Dockers before being delisted at the end of 2017.
Suns list manager Craig Cameron said Collins would add much-needed depth, alongside fellow mature-age recruits Josh Corbett and Chris Burgess, to the young list.
“We’re excited to be able to announce Sam as our final state-league player,” Cameron said.
“Sam has really impressed us with his form, has great character and is excited to help drive our young club forward.
“The special assistance provided by the AFL allows us to maintain a strong hand at the draft, to secure top end talent, but also allows us to add much needed experience to our list in 2019.”
