THE Suns went paintballing on Monday in a search for a circuit breaker after five straight losses but face more forced changes due to injury.
Defender Adam Saad has already been ruled out of Saturday’s home clash with Adelaide with a hamstring injury while skipper Gary Ablett and ruckman Tom Nicholls are considered unlikely to play because of concussion.
The Gold Coast expect to welcome back Peter Wright, a late withdrawal from the 91-point loss to GWS with calf tightness, while veteran Michael Rischitelli will be given a chance to push for selection with a contact test on his injured shoulder tomorrow.
Ablett and Nicholls were absent from Monday’s team bonding session.
Touk Miller is also in doubt. He has consistently made himself available despite carrying an injured ankle but Suns football manager Marcus Ashcroft said the club might have to overrule him.
“We can’t keep pushing him out there, it is doing him no favours,’’ he said.
Brisbane will decide Tuesday if midfielder Dayne Beams sits out the rest of the year due to his knee condition.
The Lions anticipated Beams would have to play with pain prior to his return from injury two weeks ago, but a direct knock to the area on the weekend has further complicated matters.
Skipper Tom Rockliff visited hamstring specialist Craig Purdon in Canberra and has been given a plan the club hopes will solve his ongoing issues for good.
He may not return for a couple of weeks though.
Luckless Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer faces a month on the sidelines with a knee injury, after kicking the winning goal against Port Adelaide on Sunday.
