Full 2024 Gather Round fixture revealed: See when and who your team is playing

It was one of footy’s biggest 2023 success stories and Gather Round will return next year. See who, when and where your club will play when the AFL moves to South Australia.

Mount Barker will host two AFL games when Gather Round returns in 2024.

The AFL and South Australian Government released the full fixture for the second footy festival on Sunday, with games again spread between Adelaide Oval, Norwood Oval and the Summit Sports and Recreation Park in Mount Barker.

But in 2024 the Adelaide Hills venue will host two games.

Sydney will take on West Coast at 1pm on Saturday, with Gold Coast hosting GWS at the venue at 12pm on Sunday.

This means there will be one less game at Adelaide Oval, with the AFL only scheduling Collingwood against Hawthorn on Sunday at 4.40pm to finish off the 2024 Gather Round.

Brisbane and North Melbourne will again clash in Gather Round, but this time will play in a twilight clash on Friday at Norwood Oval.

Norwood Oval will also host Richmond and St Kilda on Sunday at 2.50pm.

As reported by this Masthead, Adelaide will take on Melbourne on Thursday night and Port Adelaide will play Essendon on Friday night.

This is to ensure that the double header on Saturday doesn’t feature a SA team that will take the majority of tickets after there were a host of empty seats in 2023.

The 2024 double header at Adelaide Oval on Saturday will see Carlton and Fremantle clash at 3.50pm, followed by the evening duel between Geelong and the Western Bulldogs.

Despite the wishes of the State Government, Gather Round won’t go to the Barossa Valley in 2024 – but there is hope this will change in 2025.

AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon said he was looking forward to heading back to South Australia for Gather Round in 2024.

“Gather Round 2023 created a small slice of football history – all 18 clubs in the one state at the one time for a full round of nine matches and a celebration of footy.” Dillon said.

“South Australia really turned it on, and we are excited to bring fans a bigger and better experience in 2024.”

SA premier Peter Malinauskas said he expected tickets to be quickly snapped up.

“The race is now on for footy fans from interstate to book their flights and accommodation in South Australia for next year’s Gather Round,” he said.

“Visitors who came to South Australia for the inaugural Gather Round loved it, and those who missed out wished they were here.

“The city will be electric on Thursday and Friday night as Adelaide Oval plays host to the Crows and

Power, two matches at Mt Barker will showcase our beautiful Adelaide Hills, while The Parade will be packed on Sunday for the Food and Wine Festival.”
