HOW BOND PLAN TO BOUNCE BACK FROM QAFLW GRAND FINAL HEARTBREAK
Delma Gisu made history in 2018 when she became the first Torres Strait Islander drafted to the AFLW when Greater Western Sydney pounced on the Townsville product with pick 65.
The 23-year-old went on to play one game for the Giants, making her debut in the final match of the 2019 season before she was delisted the following month.
Two years after guiding Wilston Grange to the 2018 QAFLW premiership, Gisu will make her long-anticipated return to Queensland’s premier competition via the Bull Sharks.
THE BOND UNI TEAM WHO WIL DEFEND PREMIERSHIP
Bond coach Shane Atkins believes the inaugural Gold Coast Suns winter series player has a lot of experience and talent to offer as Bond prepare to be without their AFLW listed players for the first few weeks of the season.
“She has that experience of playing at the highest level and she was in Grange’s grand final team so she has a lot of experience to offer to our younger girls,” he said.
“She’s a small outside midfielder who we can also play across half-forward and back so she’s very versatile.”

Gisu is expected to arrive on the Gold Coast this weekend before commencing training with the Bull Sharks next week.
Bond have also bolstered their list with the additions of tall forward and Suns academy product Lily Tarlington from Mackay and defender Shae Gundlach from Sturt SANFLW who have both relocated to the Gold Coast for work.
“She’s a tall forward who can pinch hit in the ruck and she’s really balanced on her feet,” Atkins said of Tarlington.
“She (Gundlach) has shown a lot of leadership and maturity over our two practice matches and she positions herself well.”
Bond kick off their QAFLW season on Saturday afternoon against Coolangatta.
