Collingwood super fan Kyron McGuire has passed away after a battle with a rare brain cancer.

The youngster’s family confirmed the terribly sad news on Tuesday.

“Our family are deeply saddened to inform you that our baby boy gained his angel wings last night, at 10:30pm,” a Facebook post read.

“Sad, hurt and heartbroken is an understatement to explain how we are feeling right now, but we do find comfort in knowing our baby is free of pain and suffering.

“We wish it wasn’t this way and our baby didn’t have to go, but God needed our big boy more than we needed him.

“Ky touched the heart of many people during his battle and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support during Kyron’s fight against DIPG.”

McGuire was welcomed into the Collingwood inner sanctum last year, spending a week at the club in early May.

After meeting his heroes at training, he then led the Magpies through the banner for the club’s clash with Port Adelaide.

Following a Collingwood win, McGuire was chaired off the ground by superstars Adam Treloar and Scott Pendlebury before joining the team for a rousing rendition of the club song.

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire desribed Kyron as “a fighter and a wonderful boy.”

“His big smile belied the battle he was waging against a brain tumour,” he said.

“He and his family reached out to Collingwood and asked us for a favour, he wanted to come to training with the club and maybe see a game.

“The favour became his to us as he allowed us to shower him and his family with love and at the same time underline that we exist for all fans of the club.

“His influence on Collingwood was profound.

“Fly high our little Magpie. You will always be part of our club. Side by side we stick together.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the Magpies posted their own tribute to Kyron.

“We’re deeply saddened to hear Kyron McGuire Jnr lost his battle to a rare brain cancer on Monday.

“We were fortunate enough to welcome Kyron and his family to the club in 2019. His bravery inspired many and we’re truly grateful to have met this little legend. Rest easy buddy.”
