BRAD Scheer says he will wrap his arms around Gold Coast teammate and friend Brayden Crossley in one of the toughest periods of his life.
Scheer is one of Crossley’s closest friends at the Suns and said he was shocked to discover the tall had returned a positive drug test for a cocaine metabolite before the club’s May 25 NEAFL game against the Sydney Swans.
Gold Coast’s players were informed of the result the same day the news broke on Thursday.
Scheer, 20, went to Palm Beach Currumbin State High School with Crossley and was drafted to the Suns a year earlier in 2016.

“I was obviously shocked by it,” Scheer said moments after Gold Coast’s 13.13 (91) to 10.6 (66) NEAFL loss to Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday.
“He is a hard worker, good family man. I feel for him but it is what it is. Hopefully it all comes good for him soon.
“He is one of my best mates and I’m not leaving him for it.”
Scheer, who was ill going into the game, was among Gold Coast’s best against the Lions, recording 33 disposals as the Suns who pushed the Lions more than any other team has been able to do this season.

Gold Coast held a 23-point lead after the first term and a seven-point buffer at halftime before the Lions took control.
“It felt pretty good. I was pretty happy with my game,” Scheer said.
“I have been working on my inside stuff, my hands and then my transition and I thought I executed that pretty well. It’s just unfortunate we couldn’t get the win.”
Suns midfield-forward Jack Martin responded to being dropped for the first time in his career by gathering 32 possessions, kicking two goals and making 11 tackles.
“He was awesome. He was up and about and loved playing out there, he was really driving the boys,” Scheer said of Martin.
“He looked confident and free and playing on his own terms. He was huge for the team and we probably wouldn’t have been in that position without him.”
