Richmond premiership star Bachar Houli dodged a potentially catastrophic injury after a dangerous ute roll-over but could need surgery on a broken pelvis.
The Tigers on Monday confirmed the Herald Sun’s report that Houli had been airlifted to a Melbourne hospital on Sunday after a serious car accident.
Houli and two close relatives were shooting on a private property at Cochrane’s Gap between the Victorian town of Corryong and Khancoban in New South Wales.
The ute slipped sideways and then rolled over multiple times down a dangerous slope, breaking Houli’s pelvis and causing serious injuries to his brother-in-law.
Houli and his brother-in-law Khaled were airlifted from Corryong to Canberra, and Khaled remains in a Canberra hospital.
Houli was then subsequently transferred to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

While Houli could still need surgery in the next 24 hours for his pelvis injury, the accident could have been far worse given the number of times the ute rolled.
Richmond said in a statement that Houli “was in regional NSW on a camping trip when the accident occurred yesterday afternoon. He is in a stable condition and the club will provide further updates when available.”
The Bachar Houli foundation tweeted that Houli was in good spirits.
“Thank you for all the well wishes for our founder Bachar Houli. As of this morning he was stable and in good spirits. He has suffered injuries and will require time to recover. Our thoughts are also with his passenger Khaled and we ask you to keep both of them in your prayers.”
