While the Gold Coast Titans unveiled a fresh 2023 season jersey, backrower Beau Fermor is also dreaming of pulling on another jersey … a green and gold one.
The backrow star, who’s locked in with the club until 2026, said he couldn’t wait to see fans packing Cbus stadium with the new stripes hopefully inspiring a better season ahead.
“I think it looks unreal, it represents the sand, sea and the surf of the Gold Coast and it has that iconic Gold Coast fade to the jersey that we’ve had since we’ve started,” Fermor said.
“It looks awesome and to see plenty of fans wearing it will only make the crowd better.”
Fermor got his first taste of the Australian environment after being named in the Prime Minister’s XIII squad to play against Papua New Guinea in September.
A Queensland squad member, Fermor was on the fringe of making his Origin berth earlier in the year but said he isn’t looking too far ahead yet.
“That was unreal, to wear that iconic green and gold was a really proud moment for myself,” he said.
“Everyone that plays footy that’s an Australia wants to pull on that green and gold jersey one day and I don’t think that I deserved to be in that team this year, the team over there are unreal so I’m just enjoying getting up and watching them play.
“The Kangaroos and the Maroons jersey, it’s something as a kid I always wanted to pull on and if I get the opportunity to play for either of those teams it means I’m doing my job for the Titans week in and week out.
“If we’re getting four or five people in that Origin team, and then more boys representing their countries, that’s only a good thing for our team because that means they’re playing well for the Titans and if we’re playing well together hopefully that means we’re getting a lot more wins.
“At the end of the day I’m just doing what I always do, train hard and then play hard once the season comes around.
“I was happy with my year last year and it just fills me with a bit more confidence that I can play at the top level consistently.”
