THOSE who have ever wanted to own their own five-star luxury health resort now have their chance.
The former Cabarita Ocean Health Retreat, near Cudgen Lake and just metres from the white sands of Casuarina Beach, is up for sale
But you will need to find $6.5 million to grab it.
The Brisbane family that owns the resort shut it down late last year after deciding to develop an 18-lot subdivision on 2.5 hectares behind the retreat. The area includes the resort’s tennis court and swimming pool.
The resort dates back to the 1970s when developed by Cabarita identity Ken Hansen. It has passed through the hands of several owners and run as a holistic health spa before ending up with the Brisbane family.
Until last year guests were paying up to $1045 a day to stay there, endulging in detoxifying therapies, massages, consultations with a naturopath and macrobiotic foods.
Marketing agent Bruce Williams, of Ray Real Estate, said the property was being sold “well below replacement cost” and the owners would consider offers over $6.5 million.
“Last year’s sale of a 1395sq m beachfront lot in Casuarina Beach achieved $1.6 million,” he said.
Mr Williams said the resort was being marketed as a private estate and he expected interest to come from local, interstate and international buyers.
“It’s hard to outclass an offering like this when the supply of absolute beachfront land along the east coast is diminishing and the sizes of homesites are shrinking.
“This estate gives the new owner the opportunity to move in and enjoy a luxury private home on one of the largest homesites in the region.”
The retreat boasts nine ensuited bedrooms as well as a penthouse suite, gym and commercial kitchen.
Other features of the property include an open plan entertaining area on the ground floor and a rooftop terrace with views to Mount Warning.
It is located next to 72ha of reserve land situated between the estate and Cabarita village.
