FORMER Billabong executive Scott Perrin’s Mermaid Beach mansion has sold for $25 million.

A mystery interstate resident bought the beachfront home on Albatross Ave.

Wraps have been put on the identity of the buyer and whether he or she is a newcomer to the Coast market.

The sale comes nine years after Mr Perrin, a former Chevron Island lawyer, declined an unsolicited and unconditional $52 million offer for his home, Tidemark.

The agent who handled the unconditional $25 million deal, Michael Kollosche, yesterday said the sales agreement meant he could not name the buyer.

Mr Kollosche said the sale was the culmination of a sales effort that started five months ago and brought inquiry from Gold Coast, Brisbane, interstate and offshore buyers.

A Chinese buyer agreed in June to pay $27.8 million but the deal faltered on what were termed “foreign investment’’ issues.

The Perrin price is not a record residential sale for the Gold Coast. In 2008 BreakFree founder Tony Smith sold an uncompleted mansion in Hedges Avenue to later-failed internet whiz Daniel Tzvetkoff for $27 million.
