A stunning and palatial Gold Coast Hinterland property which has hosted the likes of A-listers George Clooney and Tom Hanks is on the market.
Developer Tim Gordon and his wife Karin are selling the century old 21-hectare Rivermead Estate at Guanaba through an international expression of interest campaign.
The Gordons have owned the property for seven years.
It is expected to fetch up to $20 million.
“There are very few landholdings of this size so close to the Gold Coast,” Mr Gordon said.
“You have this incredible hinterland setting and sprawling estate grounds, overlayed with every possible lifestyle amenity.
“The jewel is the homestead, with more than 3000sq m of living and entertaining spaces.
“Then there’s the poolside guest residence, manager’s residence, sauna, a myriad of indoor and outdoor event spaces, and a world-class equine facility.”
Key features include a six-bedroom, three-storey luxury homestead, a giant wine cellar, a “state of the art” media room and a poolside guesthouse with three bedrooms.
It features a tournament-size polo field, 16-box stable, Olympic-size dressage area, tennis court and heated pool.
Rivermead has changed hands over the years with many prominent owners, including Swiss-born winemaker Nicolaus Hahn and 1985 Melbourne Cup-winning trainer John Meagher who used the site and its equine facilities as his training ground.
It had been the home of the Gold Coast Polo Club but its facilities had fallen into disrepair before the Gordons bought the property in 2017 and spent two years restoring it.
The Rivermead property has a long history which dates back to the early 20th century.
In recent years it has housed celebrities on the Gold Coast shooting big-budget movies.
Tom Hanks quarantined there in late 2020 when he returned to Australia to complete filming of Baz Lurhmann’s Elvis biopic while George Clooney stayed there in 2021 while filming Two Tickets to Paradise.
Hanks was understood to have paid around $6000 a night for his stay at the estate.
Elders agent Nick Myer said the expression of interest campaign would close on June 6.
“Estates of this calibre are rare, and very tightly held,” he said.
“Based on early market feedback, we’re expecting interest in excess of $20m, and strong competition from both local and international buyers.
“In addition to its extraordinary lifestyle offering, the estate is equipped to deliver a range of commercial operations, from agribusiness to hospitality, bespoke events, retreats, film production, weddings and corporate functions.”
Rivermead was previously listed in December 2020 with a $21.5m price tag.
It received more than 270 inquiries but did not sell.
