Gold Coast development: Sentinel Fund Manager Australia gets green light for build-to-rent towers

Want to live next door to one of the Gold Coast’s biggest sports grounds? A giant 300-unit build-to-rent development earmarked for a stadium site has been given the green light.

Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

A giant 300-unit build-to-rent development will be built next to the home of the Gold Coast Titans.

The nine-storey, two-tower project, which is planned for a 1.4ha site next Cbus Super Stadium, has been given the green light by Gold Coast City Council.

It will be built by Sentinel Fund Manager Australia, the local arm of leading American development and real estate investment firm Sentinel Real Estate Corporation and is the latest expansion of the Robina stadium village precinct.

Sentinel Australia managing director Keith Lucas said build-to-rent was a key piece of the city’s future housing sector.

“Queensland’s housing market is evolving and we relish the opportunity to apply our proven expertise in delivering and managing well-designed rental apartment communities to deliver more quality housing options to the local market and support the state’s growing population,” he said.

“Our upcoming development on Stadium Drive will transform into a vibrant and engaged rental community that offers its residents thoughtfully and sustainably designed apartment living that sets a new benchmark for the area.

“Future residents can expect to enjoy high-quality fixtures and finishes, convenient access to a range of premium amenities within their building, and a refined rental experience among Robina’s natural beauty and convenient location.”

The complex will be managed by Sentinel’s Australian property management brand, Kinleaf once it is complete.

It is one of several build-to-rent projects either proposed or under construction across the city. The style of project has been repeatedly cited as the way of creating more housing at lower cost for the Gold Coast as the population continues to rise by about 15,000 people annually.

A new report by leading real estate firm Colliers was released earlier this month said there was more than $16.6bn of significant projects planned for the city in the coming decades, ranging from the light rail extension to the border and an Olympic Games athletes village at Robina for 2032 to hundreds of towers containing more than 40,000 units.
