TOURISTS visiting Sea World no longer have to sit in traffic with a new ferry service launched between Surfers Paradise and the theme park.
Wyndham Cruises has been rebranded to Sea World Cruises after a partnership formed between the two and have added the route to its existing services.
Village Roadshow COO Bikash Randhawa said the move made sense to give tourists the ultimate experience when visiting the city.
“When you look at the business we’re in we drive a lot of tourism, drive a lot of traffic to the city and the majority of the people come here go to our theme parks,” he said.

“The Spit has an ongoing transportation issue and we felt this was an opportunity, given Wyndham has already been operating cruises (for 15 years) and there’s a jetty at Surfers Paradise.
“You don’t want people to spend time in traffic — you want them to make the most of every second in the city, have more time in theme parks and go out after.”
The 35-minute cruise to Sea World commenced a daily service on March 4 before moving to three daily services in June and will have the capacity to move 600 people per day.
The ferry leaves Appel Park in Surfers Paradise at 9am and leaves Sea World at 3.15pm.
Tickets are $18 return for an adult and $13 for a child and Mr Randhawa said packages would soon be available with various attractions.

“We’re in a unique position to be able to package experiences and provide that value,” he said.
“We want to try to give them biggest bang for buck — it’s all about experience, taking advantage of the beautiful waterways we have in this beautiful city of ours.”
Mr Randhawa said the service would continue to boost tourism in the city.
“I believe we’re onto something really big,” he said.
“This is a great opportunity for tourism where tourists can see an experience that has not been touched upon.”
Sea World Cruises General Manager Anthony Ardern said there’d be no change to the regular sightseeing cruises and welcomed the new route for visitors.
“We are providing an experience for customers, not just a ferry,” he said.
