Donald Trump has revealed a message he relayed to Vladimir Putin despite the Russian leader’s lukewarm response on a ceasefire.
In Moscow, US officials met with their Russian counterparts to try and get a ceasefire in Ukraine across the line.
But Russia appears to be playing for time. Putin said he “agreed” to the concept of a ceasefire but added there were “nuances” which needed to be “painstakingly” looked into.
Mr Trump said Putin’s response “promising” but chiding it for being “incomplete”.
Vice President JD Vance has warned more people on green cards and student visas may be deported “if we determine that it’s not in the best interest of the United States to have them in our country”.
His comments came after Trump Tower in New York was occupied by pro-Palestinian protesters with 98 people arrested on Thursday, amid ongoing backlash to the administration’s attempts to deport Mahmoud Khalil.
The turmoil continued over on Wall Street, with another bloody day for the US stock market as Donald Trump’s tariff war continues, this time with threats of 200 per cent levies on European Union alcohol.
It comes as the majority of Americans think President Trump is too closely aligned with Russia, according to damning new polling.
