Margot Robbie’s Barbie movie has made more than $2 billion at the box office — and now Mattel is cashing in with a new superstar doll inspired by the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Christmas’, Mariah Carey.
Mattel worked closely with the US singer and her team to create a one-of-a-kind collectable doll featuring Carey in her iconic 2019 ‘All I want for Christmas Is You’ tour dress.
The doll wears a glittery red gown, with a ruched overlay and dramatic hip slit that makes her look like a gift tied with a bow.
Her signature flair and festive look also has silver accessories, accompanied by luscious curls and matching red heels.
Carey said she hopes the doll is one collectors and young children will enjoy.
“It’s a once in a lifetime dream to have my own Barbie! If I could go back and tell my little girl self that one day I would have a Barbie made in my likeness, I think she would flip out!,” she said.
“I hope all collectors and fans everywhere enjoy the holiday season and hopefully the Mariah Barbie will be a wonderful addition to it!”
Carey joins other pop stars including Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Zendaya, Katy Perry and Nikki Minaj, who have all released their own collectables.
Carey’s holiday classic and most successful song to-date, ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ is now 29 years old and reached one billion streams on Spotify alone last year.
Each year, the world renowned Christmas favourite earns Carey around $3 million, totalling to a cool $60 million to date.
The Barbie Signature Mariah Carey X Barbie Holiday Doll is set to launch in selected stores and online from next week.
