Tottenham fans have made one thing abundantly clear - they don’t want Ange Postecoglou going anywhere.
The entrances into the Spurs’ north London stadium were jammed with ecstatic fans, packed in like sardines ahead of their final Premier League match of the season on Sunday afternoon (Monday AEST), chanting, “oh, Ange Postecoglou” on repeat as they huddled around in packs, praising their new club hero.
They were in no rush to get to their seats, spending the best part of an hour cheering for the Australian manager and the team champions, still soaking up every minute of their victory against Manchester United in Bilbao, Spain last week.
But for Postecoglou his final Premier League match certainly didn’t go the way he would have wanted it to - a loss against Brighton & Hove Albion 1-4 - ending the season at 17th on the ladder with 38 points.

Prior to the clash the merchandise sellers were maximising the club manager’s victory in the Europa League - Ange guernseys and scarfs were hot property and on display - hanging from pop-up tents where fans had an array of gear to choose from to commemorate their team’s victory that broke a 17-year drought and claimed the club a piece silverware.
When News Corp spoke to many fans at the game most had one clear message for the club - keep Ange.
Tottenham fan Sam Fitz, 45, from the US said Postecoglou shouldn’t be booted from the club despite a horror Premier League season.
“I think he’s been in a tough position as everyone knows,” he said.
“I personally would love to see him stay, the media can be pretty harsh, fans can be quick to judge as well.
“My perspective is (he needs) at least another year”.
Supporter Nigel Woods, 69, from Buckinghamshire in the UK, also wants Postecoglou to continue on at the club.
“He’s got to a point now where he’s brought home a cup for the supporters and we now have to give him a chance to see if he can prove himself in the next year,” he said.
“He’s a nice guy, just a few tweaks and I think it’ll be a big difference for the team”.
But Supporter Kieran Falconer, 31, from Lancashire, wants Postecoglou to move on from the club.
“Love him for winning the club, I think it will be a good way for him to go out though, move on,” he said.
But Postecoglou’s future undoubtedly remains in limbo despite pulling off a victory and being crowned the 2025 Europa League champions.
Just two days earlier more than 150,000 ecstatic Spurs fans lined Tottenham’s High Rd and surrounding streets for a giant street party after the team’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United in Spain.
Many fans could not say a bad word about Postecoglou, filled with praise after he finally brought them some long-awaited joy.
But it cannot be ignored that the north London football team has had a horror Premier League season.
Despite the Spurs qualifying for the Champions League after being victorious in the Europa League, it doesn’t mean Greek-born Postecoglou is out of the woods just yet.
He scored himself a $4m bonus for winning the title, but that doesn’t give for South Melbourne captain reason to think his job is secure.
His fate now lies in the hands of Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy - who was booed by the crowd at the post-match celebrations for the Europa League win - and there’s no denying after last week’s historic victory many fans want Postecoglou to stay put.
