The moment a baby python was miraculously returned to its owner in Adelaide has been captured on video.
The rare python, named Boq, was stolen from a Pet Stock in Noarlunga, last Thursday.
CCTV captured the suspects opening the snake’s glass enclosure and putting it into their bag.
However, on Tuesday the snake was returned by a woman wearing an Aussie Bunnings straw hat and sunglasses.
She entered the store and placed a brown bag and letter on the counter before rushing away with barely a word.
Footage showed shocked workers gathering to inspect the python, which is worth $650.
Speaking to 7NEWS, staff said they are “so happy that he is safe” and that they were “glad the person did the right thing and returned him”.
In a bizarre note, addressed to staff, the woman stated that, “Boq has been well looked after, he was last fed on Sunday night. Returning him so you know he’s OK and in hopes that you won’t press charges. I’m very sorry, he was loved very much”.
Boq will now be in quarantine for another week while his health is monitored before being sent to his forever home.
Police have confirmed that they have identified the thieves but no charges have been laid.
