Five races will be run and won at Tolga’s Morrow Park on Saturday afternoon.
Hear what the winning trainers, owners and jockeys had to say afterwards.
Race 1 – QTIS 2YO & 3YO Maiden Handicap (1000m)
Se Rendre for trainer Sharlee D’Avila and jockey Scott Sheargold:
“It took me a little by surprise. I thought she would go well back in weaker company,” D’Avila said.
“I only have had her for a couple of weeks.
“I decided to back her up, just throw her in after her run last week at Cairns.
“She won well.”
Race 2 – Class B Handicap (1000m)
Conqueress for trainer Sharlee D’Avila and jockey Frank Edwards:
“I could not split Sharlee’s two runners before today but I liked what Conqueress did the other day at Cairns,” Edwards said.
“She showed a lot of fight that day and did again today.
“Coming around the turn, Wanderson and his horse, Cupid’s Son, really loomed up.
“I gave my one a bit of a squeeze and dig and she found some more and won pretty well in the end.”
Race 3 – Maiden Plate (1200m)
Instinction Lass for trainer Sharlee D’Avila and jockey Masayuki Abe: “That was a big improvement,” D’Avila said.
“She has always felt good in her track work but she just never put it all together on race day. “I am glad she got one through for the owners.
“I thought we would give her a run here today and then put her out for a spell.”
Race 4 – Class 1 Handicap (1200m)
Buoyancy for trainer Roy Chillemi and jockey Wanderson D’Avila:
“He has been consistent,” Chillemi said.
“He has had a couple of bad-luck cases, he could have won one or two more this preparation. “The 1250m might be a bit far; you just need to hold on to him and let him sprint home.
“On his home track, he had the big weight, and he won easy.”
Race 5 – Class B Handicap (1400m)
Paniagua for trainer Alex Malliff and jockey Scott Sheargold:
“He got the trip no problem and he will be looking for a mile,” Malliff said.
