Police have charged an unlicensed driver after a crash that killed one man and injured three others when a car slammed into a crowd of people outside a Perth CBD restaurant.

Police will allege a 60-year-old male was driving south on Pier St just before 6.30pm on Friday when he sped through a red light and mounted a kerb at Murray St, clipping a parked Toyota Corolla and flipping his Land Rover station sedan.

The parked Corolla then smashed into a group of diners outside My Place Bar and Restaurant.

As a result of the crash, a pedestrian, a 71-year-old man, died from his injuries at the scene.

Three other pedestrians, two men in their 20s and a man in his 40s, were taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital by ambulance.

The Land Rover continued to flip and struck a parked Hyundai sedan before coming to rest on its roof on Pier St.

The driver, a 60-year-old man from Walebing, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death in circumstances of aggravation, and driving while suspended.

He appeared before Perth Magistrates Court over the weekend.

Major crash investigators are appealing for anyone who may have seen the crash, or who saw the Land Rover travelling in the area prior to the crash, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online.
