Vote for the no.1 Cowboys fan: Meet contenders Lorraine Johnson and Alan Foley

They’ve only missed two Cowboys home games in the history of the club, one because of a heart operation. Are they the number one fans? VOTE HERE.

A Currajong couple who are diehard passionate Cowboys supporters have turned their home into a blue and yellow shine in the lead up to Friday night’s preliminary final at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

In the process they hope to win one of five double passes to the game in a member’s only competition run by the Cowboys club.

For Lorraine Johnson and Alan Foley their passion for the club and its players runs deep and they are foundation members from the club’s first game in 1995.

Up to this year the couple have only missed two home games since that first game.

“One we were in Melbourne and other one I was having a heart operation which is a pretty weak excurse to miss a game of the Cowboys,” Mr Foley said.

Such is their passion almost nothing gets in the way of a Cowboys game.

“When our kids got married or had babies they were told not to do it on a Cowboys night because we won’t be there.

“They are Cowboy supporters too and they understood what we meant.”

Mr Foley is encouraging other to get on board and decorate their homes next week in the lead Grand final such is his confidence the Cowboys will win tonight.

“We would love to see other people get involved, Lorraine was at the players shop yesterday and she met a lady from Palm Island who is decorating her house and I thought that was great” he said.

“I hope other people get involved too.”

Mr Foley said it was his partner Lorraine who decorated the home.

“She does it every time he boys get into the final or State of Origin she decorates the house.

“Lorraine has boxes of (Cowboys) memorabilia since 1995,” he said.

Mr Foley said they have had a constant stream of people coming past admiring the Cowboys decorations.

“Every day, day and night cars coming past tooting their horn, obviously they are Cowboys supporters and they appreciate what we have done,” he said.

Mr Foley believes this season is the start of good times ahead for the Cowboys after finishing near the bottom of the ladder last year.

“My theory is that they are such a young team and they are learning they have got a few older players who are teaching them.

“In the next few years, because they are such a young team they are going to be a pretty dominant force we believe.”
