A man is fighting for his life in hospital after what’s believed to be a stabbing on a Melbourne train.
The Herald Sun understands a number of train services were suspended after the horror attack.
Police confirmed they were investigating an incident on a train travelling towards Huntingdale Railway station on Thursday night.
“It’s understood four unknown males were on board the train about 6.45pm. The males were involved in an argument with other passengers when one of the passengers was assaulted,” a police spokeswoman said.
“The male victim was taken to hospital with an upper body laceration. The four males fled the area.”
The Herald Sun has been told the man is in a critical condition.
Metro Trains tweeted on Thursday night there were major delays on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines, with buses replacing trains between Caulfield and Westall, “due to a police request in the Huntingdale area”.
