Two people are listed in stable conditions after a single vehicle rolled at the University Road and Angus Smith Drive roundabout.

Emergency crews were called to the scene just before 1pm on Monday after reports a white SUV had rolled on it’s side.

Two people, an adult man and adult woman, were understood to have been trapped but were freed by Queensland Fire Department crews.

Queensland Ambulance Service said one of the victims had facial injuries and both were alert and awake.

QAS said both occupants had been transported to Townsville University Hospital stable.

Queensland Police Service said the roads between Nathan Street and the highway were closed, with traffic backing up.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
