A New Zealand-born father tragically killed in an Ipswich car crash has been remembered by friends and family as a loveable larrikin and great friend.

Dylan Taua, 42, lost control of his car and crashed into a tree in Springfield Lakes on the evening of May 4.

He was driving a Mercedes-Benz hatch near the intersection of Highlands Terrace and Summit Dr.

Mr Taua’s family and friends have paid tribute to the Titahi Bay-born father of one.

“He was a character, very cheeky and mischievous,” close childhood friend Karl McDowell said.

“You never saw him without a smile on his face and he had a good heart.”

Mr Taua, from Springfield Lakes, moved to Queensland more than 10 years ago and leaves behind a young daughter.

His funeral will be held on Friday, May 10 and livestreamed to family in New Zealand.

“Peace my bro, memories shape a lot of who we are and by growing up alongside you and the boys I can definitely say I’ve got some doozies,” said one friend on social media.

“Love how you guys always come together for each other, not only in the good times but also the hard times, it truly is a show of brotherhood.”

Longtime friend Barney Miller said the community was mourning a tragic loss but coming together to stay strong.

“I just wanna say a massive thanks to everyone over the weekend that came together when needed for our mates,” he said online.

“What a wonderful bunch of friends we have in our small community, as much as we give each other a bit of stick, there’s no doubt our love for one another is just as strong and that was evident these last few days.”

Mr Taua leaves behind his sister Cortez in Brisbane and his young daughter.
