A man has died after a serious crash which left his car trapped underneath a bus on the Gold Coast.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to a crash on Ron Penhaligon Way near Essendon Road in Robina at 4.20pm.
A police spokesperson said a white Toyota Camry crashed into the back of the bus.
Paramedics rushed to the scene but sadly the 47-year-old Palm Beach man who was the driver of the car, died at the scene.
Gold Coast motorist John Hegarty who said he was witness to the crash said he was “focusing on the road.
“I was turning my car into Ron Pen Way and I let him pass,” he commented on a Facebook post.
“He was focusing on the road ahead at the time.
“I followed him for about 500m where he continued to drive in a straight line, unaware of a slight right bend in the road and collided with a stationary bus.
“I don’t recall the brake light coming on.
“It was raining at the time.”
The bus driver who was a man in his 30s was taken to Robina hospital in a stable condition and his six passengers were not physically injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit launched an investigation into the fatal two-car crash and are urging anyone with information of footage of the incident to contact police at 131 444.

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash in Robina in which a car became trapped underneath a bus.
Police were called to the accident at Essendon Rd and Ron Penhaligon Way at about 4.20pm.
It is understood a car driven by a man collided with the back of the bus, which was stationary at the time, becoming entrapped beneath the larger vehicle. The Bulletin understands the driver has been seriously injured in the accident.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the force’s Forensic Crash Unit was attending the scene.
Ron Penhaligon Way has been blocked to traffic, with vehicles being diverted up Markeri St.
Police are urging motorists to avoid the area.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said six units had responded to the crash.
The bus driver, a man in his thirties, was taken to Robina Hospital in stable condition.
It is understood there were six passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. None were physically injured.
