Man killed after colliding with rear of truck on M1 at Yatala

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a traffic crash on the M1 at Yatala last night which claimed the life of a young man.

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a traffic crash on the M1 at Yatala last night which claimed the life of a young man.

It is understood a vehicle travelling north on the M1 just after 9pm slowed down and stopped in the left-hand lane due to engine problems.

A truck behind the vehicle also slowed and turned on its hazard lights before parking behind the broken down vehicle.

Following this, a van travelling in the same direction collided with the rear of the truck.

The male driver of the van, in his late 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three lanes of the M1 were closed for a short time.

Police are calling for anyone who saw the crash or noticed the vehicle prior to the crash to contact Springwood Forensic Crash Unit on 38095277 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police investigations are continuing.
