The footage, published to Facebook by Roadside Towing, shows the heavy vehicle collision, which caused traffic mayhem for commuters on Wednesday afternoon.
“This is what happened yesterday at Pimpama wich (sic) really stuffed the traffic up. It could of went so bad if the gas truck had a spark.”
Emergency services were called the crash just south of exit 49 of the M1 southbound at Pimpama about 1.45pm Wednesday.

DUCKLINGS BRING M1 TO STANDSTILL
A MOTHER duck and her ducklings which lost their bearings brought traffic to a halt on the M1 on the Gold Coast after one of the birds was struck and killed by a vehicle.
Gold Coast police were advised of the “traffic hazard” on the northbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway at Worongary about 11.40am, a spokeswoman said.
It was reported a “duck had been hit by a vehicle and that multiple ducklings were on the loose”.
The flock was later reported to be in an overtaking lane, causing motorists to break suddenly and hop from their vehicles to attempt to help the disoriented birds off the road.
The remaining ducklings were retrieved by a wildlife rescue team and the M1 was clear by about midday.
There was no reports of any vehicle collisions, despite the dicey situation.
