Emergency services have responded to an incident on the M1 that caused kilometres of peak-hour delays.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said initial reports were that two vehicles were involved in a crash near Nerang, which had impacted northbound traffic near Nerang Broadbeach Road.
Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 8am with delays already stretching back to the Pappas Way overpass.
However, there was no sign of a crash according to the QFES spokeswoman.
The delays are believed to have been caused by a plume of thick black smoke coming from a van that had caught fire at a nearby service station on Riverview Rd.
Firefighters also responded to that incident, however, the flames had been extinguished by the time they arrived.
The delays on the M1 had cleared just after 9am.
